60043 at Ais Gill
AIS GILL - 30th October 1998
60043 has almost completed its long climb as it approaches the summit at Ais Gill, 1,169 feet above sea level. The route of the railway can be discerned as it clings to the side of Mallerstang Common dropping down to Kirkby Stephen at 1 in 100. Above the locomotive is High Bank Scar and on the far left of the picture sits Wild Boar Fell.
